Philosophy of Education
From my perspective, a perfect classroom will foster a safe and comfortable learning environment for all students. The culture of the classroom will be set from the teacher from day one. The teacher would make their best efforts to get to know each and every student on a personal level. The teacher will always be both accessible and flexible by coming to class early or staying late in order to give every student an equal opportunity to seek out help. The teacher should also check their e-mails on a consistent basis to demonstrate their commitment to both the students and their subject. The teacher should try to attend seminars and conduct their own research to hold themselves accountable for staying up to date with their subject area.
The teacher should promote critical thinking by allowing creativity in the classroom. The teacher should allow students opportunities to come up with project topics for themselves or to choose to write an epilogue of a play or novel that the class just read. Teachers should promote self-efficacy by always encouraging students and demonstrating through both thoughts and actions that they believe in them. Teachers should promote students to be social with one another and to learn from one another by forming brainstorming groups or class debates/discussions. Teachers should always have a zero tolerance for bullying and make a huge effort to embrace diversity - whether it is race, religion, or learning ability- within the classroom. The teacher should manage the class on a fair and consistent basis so that all students feel both valued and respected.
Most importantly, the teacher should inspire students to achieve their dreams and exceed in everything that they do.
